OUR BRAND STORY

Songbird Sessions is the creative manifestation of a 14 year friendship and a lifelong love of music. We can both vouch for being obsessed with music from our childhoods and name the likes of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and the genre of soul music as a whole as early influences.

Fast forward to 2004 and we found ourselves studying at the cutting edge music college Vocal Tech. (now BIMM London) Back then it was the only institution offering Contemporary Music Studies so to say we were excited to be there, is an understatement. We didn't study in the same classes but were very quickly earmarked by our tutors to sing backing vocals together at Open Days and other events promoting the school. Our friendship has sat side by side with music from the very beginning and this duality continues to be the heart that is at the centre of our company.

It took us some time to really hone in on what Songbird Sessions is. We've been through many changes. We've lost old friends, found new ones and have gone on to carve out a brand that has the clarify and focus that our skills and passion deserves. In 2016 we appeared on the BBC One prime time choir competition Pitch Battle and although we didn't win, this show has been the beginning of our many successes since our appearance.

We are the very best in acoustic events entertainment for weddings, private parties and high end corporate events. The music we offer is arranged and performed from the heart and this is what stands us out from the crowd. We have consciously decided to present strictly acoustic, stripped down and heartfelt music to our clients to shine our best light. We believe in working with people we really really like and we strive to form great relationships with our clients. We aim to give the very best service we can on each and every job we book.

The vocal coaching side of our business is also a passion project and is headed up by Kelly Fraser. As deputy head of Vocals at BIMM London, Kelly is at the front line of music education, sharing her pearls of wisdom and experience with the next generation of music enthusiasts. She also has some top notch industry credits to her coaching name having worked on The X Factor for over 4 years and for artists including Louisa Johnson and Rita Ora. To top it off she is also studying a Masters in Music Therapy.

Gemma’s week is mostly taken up treading the boards of the West End stages. She is currently appearing in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at The Piccadilly Theatre and has also appeared in The Lion King and Sister Act. Other credits include backing vocals for Arianna Grande for a BBC 1 concert special and she has also recently made her screen debut in the Netflix musical film ‘Been So Long’

Songbird Sessions is the glue that ties these solo working experiences together and our continued goal is to keep growing, learning, meeting new clients and most importantly for us, sharing our voices and so therefore a defining part of ourselves with you.
